Banstead, SM7 · Plasterboarding and skimming · Two days

Plasterboarding and skimming a Banstead extension

A Banstead extension taken from bare plasterboard to a smooth, paint-ready finish: joints taped, beads fitted and walls skimmed throughout.

The problem

The customer had a new extension in Banstead that had been boarded out but was still at the dry-lining stage. Every plasterboard joint, screw head and corner was visible, and the room needed skimming before decorating could begin.

Preparation

Floors and reveals were protected, all joints were scrim-taped, external corners received angle beads, and screw heads were set flush so nothing would show through the finish.

The work carried out

The walls and ceiling were skimmed with multi-finish plaster, trowelled flat and left with clean corners, sharp edges around the downlights and an even surface ready for painting.

The result

The Banstead extension was transformed from a bare boarded shell into a smooth, bright room. The finish was left paint-ready once dry, with no ripples, joins or visible fixings.
